73rd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting

Once a year, Nobel Laureates convene in Lindau to meet the next generation of leading scientists; 500–600 undergraduates, Ph.D. students, and postdoc researchers from all over the world. The Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings offers young scientists a unique opportunity to meet scientists from different generations, cultures, and disciplines. Next year’s meeting is dedicated to physics.

The call for applications from Swedish undergraduates, Ph.D. students, and postdoc researchers to attend the 73rd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting is now open.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in collaboration with the Ragnar Söderberg Foundation are responsible for recommending Swedish participants to the Lindau Review Panel. The panel then makes the final selection. Participation is fully funded by the Ragnar Söderberg Foundation and the Foundation Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings.

The meeting will be held from 30 June–5 July  2024.

The participants will be recruited among undergraduate students, master and doctoral students and young postdoctoral students in the field of physics and closely related disciplines at Swedish universities.

All applicants shall:

  • show excellence in their principal field of studies, i.e. in physics and related disciplines,
  • receive very strong support of their application by their academic advisor and/or by an internationally renowned scientist, who knows the applicant well; a detailed letter of recommendation is indispensable for the application,
  • normally not have a permanent position as this is a criterion for exclusion except in special cases,
  • not be older than 35 years of age at the date of the meeting with exceptions for special cases (e.g. parental leave),
  • not have participated in previous Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings and
  • commit themselves to being present in Lindau for the full duration of the meeting.

How to apply

The application must consist of:

  • a letter of recommendation (maximum one A4 page) from an academic advisor and/or by internationally renowned scientists.

Please consolidate your documents into one single PDF.

Applications must be submitted by 25 October 2023 at the latest, to: lindauphysics@kva.se
