The Beijer Institute is looking for a research assistant with a Master’s Degree or similar to help us advance a range of research initiatives and provide operational support to the research team of the Inequality and the Biosphere project and related research projects.
The Inequality and the Biosphere project is a FORMAS funded research project at the Beijer Institute of Ecological Economics at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. The project seeks to improve our knowledge about how to reduce socio-economic inequalities while maintaining healthy marine and terrestrial ecosystems to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Candidates with strong analytical skills (quantitative and/or qualitative), and experience with interdisciplinary work and literature reviews, are encouraged to apply. Applicants should be prepared to combine multiple tasks of possibly varying nature and feel comfortable with engaging with different bodies of research. Familiarity with programming environments is essential to support modelling work, data cleaning, visualisation, and analysis. Experience with experimental approaches from the behavioural sciences is a merit. Candidates must be highly proficient in spoken and written English.
Tasks
The assistant will work closely with a team of interdisciplinary researchers to compile and review literature (scientific and “grey” literature), identify, collect, organise, visualise and analyse data, and assist in model analysis. The assistant may also support communication and outreach work, educational activities, as well as help organise, coordinate and participate in, international meetings and workshops with researchers and stakeholders.
Assistants can expect to be part of the full research process, and as such the RA position should be seen as an excellent opportunity to gain research experience for candidates interested in an academic future.
Candidates must have a permanent residency permit and a work permit to be eligible for the position and are expected to work mostly from the office in Stockholm.
Duration
100% for 12 months (with possible/likely extension), starting from as soon as possible (start date is negotiable, but no later than February 1st).

According to agreement.
