The purpose of the symposium is to provide knowledge from existing research and propose future research directions within the field of decision-making, with a focus on decisions involving risk and uncertainty. This purpose will be achieved by national and international researchers in psychology contributing various perspectives on the current theme; the importance of understanding the ecological rationality underlying decisions (Prof. Gerd Gigerenzer, Max Planck Institute for Human Development); modeling of cognitive processes (Prof. Thorsten Pachur and Dr. Veronika Zilker, University of Munich); theoretical frameworks for understanding individual differences (Dr. Sandeep Mishra, University of Guelph), as well as how researchers can create cumulative theory-building in the field (Dr. Philip Millroth, Uppsala University).
