Health
The Academy has a broad commitment to health issues, both in Sweden and internationally through scientific collaborative organisations. Much of the Academy's work in this area is coordinated by the Health Committee, but the Academy is also engaged in the Swedish Institute for Health Transformation (SIGHT) and a member of European Academies' Science Advisory Council (EASAC) and InterAcademy Partnership (IAP), which often deals with health issues.
Academy report proposes an independent expert unit for pandemics
Sweden should establish an independent expert unit with a high level of scientific expertise for advising decisionmakers during pandemics. This is one of the actions proposed in the final report by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences’ Expert Group on COVID-19.
