On the 7th of December the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences will open Nobel week with a press conference, where we gather 2026 year’s laureates in Physics and Chemistry, as well as Economic Sciences. It will also be possible to conduct individual interviews with the laureates.

At the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, it has become traditional to start the Nobel week with a unique opportunity for media representatives to meet and put questions to the laureates of the prizes awarded by the Academy.
This year’s prizes were awarded for decisive contributions to the IceCube Neutrino Observatory buried deep in the ice on the South Pole, where researchers can capture neutrinos from extremely energy-rich processes in the distant universe. But also discoveries about chemical asymmetry that have enabled chemists to choose what mirror image of a molecule they would like to produce. And finaly, new macroeconomic models that can help us reduce the economy’s peaks and troughs.
Three laureates present
The laureate in Physics is Francis Halzen. The laureates in Chemistry are Henri B. Kagan and Kenso Soai, and the laureates in Economic Sciences are Robert E. Hall and Michael Woodford. Henri Kagan and Robert Hall will however not be attending the press conference (Henri Kagan will instead be represented by Emmanuelle Schulz, CNRS researcher at Paris-Saclay University and director of the Institute of Molecular and Materials Chemistry in Orsay, ICMMO, founded by Prof. Kagan).
Please request individual interviews with laureates in the registration form (link below). Interview time slots are limited and will be offered if available. You should also let us know if you want to reserve a space for filming with a camera on a stand during the first livestreamed part of the press conference.
Security check on entering
Please arrive early, since there will be a security check on entering which might take some time. The doors will open at 9:00 a.m. CET and registration will close at 10:30 a.m. CET.
