The Academy invites proposals to organise Nobel Symposia in 2021

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences invites the Swedish academic community to propose topics for Nobel Symposia in 2021 in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, and Economic Sciences.

The Nobel Symposia present an opportunity for the Swedish academic community to organise international conferences at the highest scientific level, bringing Swedish researchers in direct contact with the international research frontier. Since the start in 1965, more than 160 Nobel symposia have been held.

The Programme Committee of the Nobel Foundation formally approves applications to organise Nobel Symposia. The committee’s decisions will be based on proposals from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences that – from now on – will receive and coordinate the evaluation of proposals for Nobel Symposia in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, and Economic Sciences.

The Academy thus invites the Swedish academic community to propose topics for the Nobel Symposia to be held in 2021. These proposals will be evaluated by working groups within each subject area. Through major grants from the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation and the Erling-Persson Family Foundation, it will be possible to organise one symposium per year in each of the four fields.
