The Anna-Greta and Holger Crafoord Fund annually awards an international prize to outstanding researchers, as well as scholarships and research grants to researchers in Sweden. The purpose of the fund is to promote basic research in the following disciplines:
- Mathematics and astronomy
- Polyarthritis
- Geosciences
- Biosciences
Fellowships and research grants for individual researchers
In 2026, a maximum of six fellowships and research grants in the field of geosciences are announced for studies in:
Atmospheric Science.
Priority is given to researchers active in Sweden who have obtained their PhD within the past ten years.
Examples of eligible projects and purposes include scientific equipment, scientific activities, publication of scientific work, scientific conferences and symposia, hosting of guest researchers, research travel, expeditions, researcher exchanges abroad, as well as other initiatives that may promote research within the specified field.
Grants cannot be awarded for purposes or projects that have already been completed at the time the decision is made, which is approximately one month after the application deadline.
Available funding 2026: 2,170,000 Swedish kronor.
Allocation
Recipients will be notified by personal letter. All other applicants will be notified by email.
In connection with the annual Crafoord Prize award ceremony in Stockholm on 21 May 2026, the recipients will be invited to participate as part of the ceremony. Each recipient will be awarded a personal diploma with a citation from the scholarship committee.
