• Five new researchers elected to the Academy

  2012-05-10 At the General Meeting on 11 April 2012 Gert Brodin and Gunnar Malmberg, Professors at Umeå University, Magnus Johannesson, Professor at Stockholm School of Economics, Bo Rothstein, Professor at University of Gothenburg and Kerstin Sahlin, Professor at Uppsala University, were elected members of the Academy.

• Lars Heikensten elected to the Academy's Class for humanities and for outstanding services to science

  2012-04-12 At the General Meeting on 14 mars Lars Heikensten, Executive Director of the Nobel Foundation, was elected to the Academy's Class for humanities and for outstanding services to science.

  2012-03-05 At the General Meeting on 18 January 2012 Per Ahlberg, Uppsala University, Kerstin Lindblad-Toh, Uppsala University, Bernt Eric Uhlin, Umeå University, Sven Widmalm, Uppsala University, Donald E. Canfield, University of Southern Denmark, Denmark and Stanislav Smirnov, University of Geneva, Switzerland, were elected members of the Academy.

• Barbara Cannon elected as new President of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences

  2012-02-07 The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (RSAS) has appointed Professor Barbara Cannon as President, starting on 1 July 2012 for a period of three years.

• The Crafoord Prize in Mathematics 2012 and The Crafoord Prize in Astronomy 2012

  2012-01-19 In 2012 the Crafoord prizes in Mathematics and Astronomy are for the first time awarded simultaneously as two separate prizes with a prize amount of SEK 4 million each.
